Arrive Guwahati by air/ train. On your arrival meet your guide at the airport and we shall proceed towards Shillong- itself means “Abode of Clouds”. Famous for tallest waterfall, beautiful landscape, amazing people and serene culture. Enroute stop to visit Umium Lake. On arrival check into your room. Evening explore the Police Bazar.

After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Mawlynnong Village. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living root bridge at a neighbouring village Riwai. The village also offers a sight of natural balancing rock, a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock.

The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living root bridge at a neighbouring village Riwai – To visit the Root Bridge one has to walk about 500mts from the parking point. First set of steps are easy steps before reaching the root bridge the steps are stiff and uneven (cut out of rocks). If the bridge is kept of restoration, authorities may not allow visitors to walk on the bridge.
For lunch, enjoy a simple local meal in one of the small eateries—typically a thali consisting of rice, lentils, vegetables, and chicken. The food is fresh and homely, reflecting the local flavors of Meghalaya.
Later, continue your journey to Dawki, a border town on the edge of the Umgot River. Here, the crystal-clear waters reveal the riverbed, making boats appear to float on air. Subject to river conditions, enjoy a serene boat ride in a traditional wooden boat with an oarsman. Safety is prioritized with life jackets available on site.
Also visit the India-Bangladesh border at Tamabil, a quiet but symbolic location offering a glimpse across the international boundary. The road to Dawki is under repair in some sections, so expect occasional bumpy patches. Later drive towards to Cherrapunjee by evening for overnight stay.
Cherrapunji currently the historical name Sohra is more commonly used, it is credited as being once the wettest place on Earth. Though, it still holds the world record for the most rainfall in a calendar month and in a year. It received 9,300 mm (366 in) in July 1861 and 26,461 mm (1,041.75 in) between 1 August 1860 and 31 July 1861.It is the traditional capital of a hima (Khasi tribal chieftainship constituting a petty state) known as Sohra or Churra.
The original name for this town was Sohra, which was pronounced “Churra” by the British. This name eventually evolved into the current name, Cherrapunji. Cherrapunje is also known as the home of the living root villages.
Following breakfast, we will explore sights in Cherrapunjee and visit to the Garden of Caves, a stunning site featuring waterfalls, caves, and natural rock formations hidden within a forested area. Each cave has its own unique charm, with the play of light and water creating a tranquil ambiance.
Next, you will visit the Arwah Cave, known for its impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and ancient fossils. This relatively unexplored cave is a natural wonder that allows you to immerse yourself in the subterranean beauty of Meghalaya. The highlight of the day is a visit to Nohkalikai Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India, plunging from a height of 1,115 feet. The falls are named after a local legend about a woman named Likai, and the dramatic view from the viewpoint offers an unforgettable sight, followed by visit to Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls), also time permit visit Thangkharang Park, Eco Park. During the dry season, waterfalls may have reduced water flow or even run dry.
After an early breakfast, we move towards the starting point of the Double Decker Bridge trek, located in Nongriate village. We will then proceed towards Double Decker Bridge one of the most unique bridges in the world built by the ancient tribes of Khasi hills. Enjoy a nice shower in the pools with pristine blue water. Also get the opportunity to cross the Hanging bridge.
Double Decker Route Bridge: To witness the Double Decker root bridges in Cherrapunjee one needs to trek maximum 4 -5 hrs. This trek is on uneven routes where one needs to climb/descend some 4000 odd number steps and suggestible for people with good health only. Trek is closed on Sundays. Local guide for this trek is mandatory – Picnic Lunch will be arranged in the location
Located in the thick tropical forest of Meghalaya, cloaked with rain during most part of the year are the fantastic man-made cum natural wonders of the living root bridges. Created by the people of the Khasi tribe, these roots grow from the ancient rubber trees, seen only in the northeast region. These roots are trained by the Khasis to grow in such a manner as be in the form of bridges on the top of a river. These bridges are an amazing alternative to wooden bridges that dwindle with so much rain falling on them. Your overnight stay will be at Cherrapunjee Hotel.
After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Guwahati. On arrival check into your rooms for overnight stay.
In the evening, proceed for Sunset cruise at River Brahmaputra. The Sunset Cruise on the Brahmaputra River is a popular experience for both locals and tourists in Guwahati, Assam. The cruise offers breathtaking views of the Brahmaputra River, especially during sunset (river cruise is subjected to river conditions and availability). Later drive back to the hotel for overnight stay
After breakfast we will head towards Kamakhya Temple – The most important religious site located in Guwahati Assam, is one of the most revered and significant Shakti Peethas dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, an embodiment of Shakti (divine feminine energy). Situated on the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, the temple is famous for its unique rituals and festivals, particularly the Ambubachi Mela, which celebrates the goddess’s annual menstruation period followed by visit to Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre for cultural experience and relaxation and Assam state museum (closed on Mondays and state/central Govt holidays). Also, explore the local market. Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Guwahati airport / railway station to board flight/train for your onward journey.
